Machine to help those who find ballots hard

Thurston County elections staff members are making an AutoMARK voting machine available for voters who have difficulty reading or marking ballots. The machine is scheduled for use at the Intercity Transit center in downtown Olympia from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 13 and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 14.

Voters unable to get to the machines can call the county Auditor’s Office at 360-786-5408 to arrange for a machine to be brought to them. The machines can read the ballot choices to the voter without a third person being aware of the voter’s selections. Voters must have their own ballots available to use the machines.
