Authorities are working to recover a boat that caught fire and sank at a Gig Harbor marina.
The 46-foot-long pleasure craft X-TA-SEA went underwater shortly after authorities received a report of the fire about 8 p.m., Monday at the Peninsula Yacht Basin, said City Fire Marshal Dick Bower.
The fire damaged two boats that were moored next to it. The boat spilled an unknown amount of diesel oil that was visible across at least five slips, according to the state Department of Ecology.
The vessel had about 200 gallons of diesel on board at the time of the fire. It belonged to Gig Harbor resident Dave Covers, said Penny Hulse, spokeswoman for Gig Harbor Fire District 5.
Bower said crews contained the spill, but as of Tuesday afternoon, there was still oil leaking from hull.
