The state Department of Natural Resources is looking for vandals who heavily damaged Sherman Valley Campground in the Capitol State Forest last week, reported The Daily World of Aberdeen.
The campground is about 5 miles east of the Cedar Creek entrance, said Bob Redling, spokesman for the Department of Natural Resources.
“The wooden outhouses were pulled off their foundations, shot up and smashed. Two picnic tables and fencing were smashed and then burned,” he said.
The damage occurred sometime between the night of April 10 and the morning of April 13.
Estimated costs of repairs and labor will be about $4,400, and it’s still not clear whether the campground will be open by May 1.
The state agency is working with the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office for leads.
Anyone with information is asked to call Larry Raedel, DNR Law Enforcement Services chief, 360-902-1698.
