Wild geese banded for research in Columbia Park

Zachary Nelson, 11, of Richland, reacts as a goose shifts in his arms while being banded Friday by Jason Fidorra, district biologist for Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in Benton and Franklin counties, at Columbia Park in Kennewick.

The wild geese are being banded to record their migration, survival and harvest.

Volunteers from the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society and the Richland Rod and Gun Club helped with the project.
