Veterans Day 2010 takes on a mixed tone in South Sound and across this nation as troops continue to wage war against insurgents in the Middle East.
George W. Bush’s horrific war in Iraq is over.
President Barack Obama has fulfilled his campaign pledge to begin the withdrawal of troops. Yet, the death toll continues to mount in Afghanistan.
On this Veterans Day, we salute those brave individuals who have donned the uniform of this great nation at times of war and times of peace.
We honor all veterans for their sacrifice, courage and allegiance to this great nation and its freedoms.
Their willingness to put their lives on the line to protect and serve the interests of the United States of America is inspiring and humbling.
They wear their uniforms with pride and bring great honor to this nation.
They deserve our full support and the support of the newly elected representatives and senators in Washington, D.C.
May every man and woman in uniform be protected from harm and be reunited with their families soon.
