More than four months have passed since on ban on plastic bag use took effect in the cities of Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater, and the unincorporated areas of Thurston County.
Thurston County Solid Waste is reaching out to consumers and businesses to see what they like, or don’t like, about the ban through two surveys available at www.ThurstonSolidWaste.org/plastics.
This is an opportunity for retailers and consumers alike to provide constructive feedback on the new ordinances. Anyone with something to add to the plastic bag ban conversation should take time to share their thoughts with solid waste officials.
The information from the surveys will be included in a status report on the ordinances that’s due to the jurisdictions in early 2015.
Solid waste officials should be on alert for any suggestions or advice that they can use to improve the performance of the ordinances.
It seems like the transition to life without plastic grocery bags has gone fairly smooth. But let’s not pass judgment until we see the survey results.
