This is to extend my apologies to some of Olympia's downtown businesses.
I have been an Olympia resident for a little over 20 years and retired from working on the Capitol Campus. I had become accustomed to frequenting a number of downtown businesses over the years.
Unfortunately, I have experienced frustration and difficulty through numerous failed attempts to operate the City of Olympia’s new parking meters. The meters never seem to be anywhere near where I parked. The rate of $1 per hour cannot even be paid with a $1 bill.
I am unable to read the small and glared message screen, the credit card use is complicated and has never accepted a charge for me. In every attempt to park downtown, I have ended up leaving town without conducting my business there.
For this reason, I apologize and regret not visiting my previous downtown business establishments anymore. I have since located other places outside of downtown to conduct my business.
