My complaint against the city of Olympia is the high cost of parking.
I have not visited downtown since the parking fee was increased to $1 per hour. This is an exorbitant amount to pay when one is elderly and living on a fixed income.
Of course, I could park away from the downtown core where there may be available parking, but suffering from leg problems prohibits walking far distances.
I do live on a bu s line and could ride the bus. However, there is the necessary standing which makes bus riding impossible. Why cannot the city furnish parking areas within the downtown core for the elderly to use?
I know parking space is at a minimum so that would not solve the problem, especially if the fee remains $1 an hour. Then, too, I suspect the elderly do not spend a lot of money so there is no necessity to lower parking fees.
How sad for we elderly.
