I did a double take when I read Raj Manhas' oped in a recent Olympian.
Manhas laments the cuts in funding to education budgets by state and federal governments. Manhas contends that local voters should not have to bear the burden for education, claiming that is not sustainable.
Where does he think state and federal governments get their money?
Regardless of the channel, it is all taxpayer money. So Manhas wants taxpayers from Texas or Mississippi to fund North Thurston schools? Or, perhaps, he prefers to look to taxpayers in Ferry or Columbia counties to fund North Thurston schools?

Manhas, and every other superintendent, needs to re-focus his district’s efforts on education, require student and parent discipline, and refuse the baby-sitting responsibilities, returning those to the parents.
