The nutria solution that is now being used seems to be ineffective. There is one state that I know of that has used a bounty of $5.00 for each tail. The nutria problem has not been eliminated, but is not as severe as it was, before the reward.
Past years have seen nutria used for fur and for animal feed. During that time a nutria that was shot and sold for $1.00 at the processor. One night, we shot almost half of a bed of a 3/4 ton pickup truck full. I have made nutria jambalaya and sauce piquant, which were enjoyed by everyone.
Having lived here for the last 46 years and having seen some of the wildlife management solutions have been nothing short of tragic.
