Mismanagement at VA a disservice to veterans

Recent experience with the Seattle Veteran’s Administration regional office shows that they have apparently redirected staff to work solely on disability rating decisions (which are monitored nationally). This reduces ability to do other necessary VBA actions.

My increase in disability rating to the 100 percent, which took a year to resolve should have been accompanied by retroactive pay since the effective date was my date of filing. This action used to be mandated to be accomplished in three working days. I am now being told it may take many more months since the focus is on getting rid of their rating decision backlog.

Conversation with my DAV Service Officer revealed that they had been told it could take 900 days for a veteran to even add a dependent to their claim which impacts their disability pay. This is a disservice the those who have served.
