John Komen would end PUD secret, bad decisions

I am writing to endorse John Komen for Mason County PUD 3 commissioner. John Komen has and will continue to be a consistent advocate for the ratepayers. The following is an outline of some of the egregious decisions and expenditures imposed upon the ratepayers by the existing board.

1. The installation of a water line, intended for the support of an incinerator plant whose environmental impact would’ve been devastating, costing the ratepayers $1.7 million. The commissioners, ultimately, gave the water line to the city of Shelton.

2. The building of a $41 million facility, whose need was debatable.

3. The present indebtedness of PUD 3, over $180 million in bonds which will not be paid off until 2040, almost 30 years from now.

In every one of the above actions, involved citizens advocated ratepayer input in the form of a vote or at least an advisory vote. Each and every time the commissioners hid from this type of openness and secretly proceeded with their own agenda.

We need change. We need transparency. We need John Komen. He will be open with the ratepayers and make fiscally responsible decisions to protect the victims (ratepayers) of these past decisions.
