City should not destroy iconic Spooner Farms

It was with shock and sadness that I read of the proposed destruction of a Thurston County beloved institution: Spooner Farms. Not by developers, not by the Fish and Wildlife Service, but by the City of Olympia.

This process shows what is wrong with city government. Dead broke, we spend $60,000, which we don’t have, for advice we don’t need to develop parks in locations we don’t want.

Instead let’s buy (or trade for city property) the development rights for Spooner Farms. Let future generations enjoy the bounty of this farm and also come to know where our food really comes from.
