Small, positive gestures are priceless gifts

I often feel overwhelmed when I watch or read the news. What can I do about ISIS, immigration reform, global warming or a gridlocked Congress? Yes, I can vote for effective leaders, send money to worthwhile organizations and spend time and energy on social causes. However, it is also in my simple day-to-day activities where I can make a difference. When I am driving on a packed street, I can let someone in ahead of me. I can smile when a salesperson-who has been serving customers all day-helps me. I can stop talking when a friend needs to talk and just listen. In this holiday season, let’s be conscious of how we are interacting with our fellow human beings. Small positive gestures mean a lot.
