In respect to Elizabeth Atkins Patterson”s comments in recent letter to the editor, I would like to know why she wouldn’t want to work as a server in any restaurant that offers $5.68 an hour in tips. I think that adds up to $15 an hour so what is her complaint? Does she feel that anyone that stands behind the counter at a fast food store and asks: “what would like?” is deserving of $15 an hour? She is not aware of economics. She needs to open a small business and see how long she survives paying her employees $15 an hour. I do not believe that people that are making less than $15 an hour, are planning on these jobs as a lifelong commitment. There are lots of opportunities out there but you need to be qualified for them.
