Retiree wants law change for public, private pensions

Repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision of the IRS, House Resolution 5697. I’m retired, but I have worked in different jobs and paid into the Social Security system for over 20 years and worked 21 years in Law Enforcement paying into a private pension fund. My wife was a teacher and also paid into both.

Due to the WEP provision we get penalized by having our SS retirement benefits cut by about a third to a half of what the normal retiree can receive.

People like myself, who have worked and paid into both systems are getting robbed by the Internal Revenue Service for working hard and trying to improve our future when we finally retire. I have contacted Rep. Danny Heck and our two Senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, trying to get them on board with a bill in the U.S. House to change this situation.

I encourage other persons in the same or similar situation to try and get this House Resolution passed in the House and Senate.
