The wars of today are not between civilized nations. They are between western civilized nations and some uncivilized eastern fanatical, armed militant rebels. Western nations need to wake up and make their own rules. They should ignore a treaty that won’t be followed by non-civilized enemies.
In World War II, we cut off the enemies supplies. That war was over in less than four years – not 10 or 12 years. It was total war – no sanctuaries allowed! Civilian casualties were heavy. It had to be done. They were part of enemies’ supply lines. It was what we call today collateral damage.
That war was conducted by our War Department. It was the last war we won! We won’t win this one until we get serious and cut off the enemies’ supply lines – completely isolate the battlefield, do whatever it takes. If it means killing civilians, then we have to accept that as the price for winning. We cannot worry about separating combatants from non-combatants. Most will likely be part of their war effort.
We must use all conventional weapons in our inventory, even napalm. We used it in Vietnam. We cannot win any war with the State Department making the decisions. We learned that in Korea, Vietnam, Kosovo, North Africa and other places. Put Department of Defense back in charge. Keep the State Department out of the chain of command. They know nothing about winning a war. Sanctions, resolutions, and threatening speeches won’t do it!
