This pertains to the poor review Roger Moore gave to the movie “Cinderella.” We (our family with all the grandkids) saw it and loved it. We all thought just the opposite of the review: Cinderella, her sweet self, was perfect, not snippy, sexy or cool, but the way she was supposed to be – after all, this is a old-time beloved fairy tale, not a modern jazzy feminist Cinderella movie.
We thought Cinderella herself was believable, and the two stepsisters were perfect. He said Cate was underplayed, and we thought she overplayed. The magic was there: Roger just couldn’t see it. We do think the Prince was not quite perfect.
While we’re at it, we don’t agree with many of Roger’s reviews, and wonder why he thinks the way he does. Movies like Cinderella should be encouraged, not slammed when they’re obviously decent and well done. Thanks, Disneyland for making a decent, monster-free fairy tale.
