Three things to do this weekend

Friday through Sunday: The Cleanwater Classic – Washington’s biggest surf contest and celebration – drops into Westport. Last year’s contest attracted more than 150 surfers and more than 1,000 spectators. The event raises money for Surfrider Foundation projects. For more information, visit www.cleanwaterclassic.org.

Saturday and Sunday: The Puget Sound Sea Kayak Symposium offers boating classes, boat tryouts, vendor displays and on-the-water seminars at Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park. A one-day pass is $30, and a two-day pass is $55. For more information, call 1-253-594-7847 or visit www.metroparkstacoma.org.

All weekend: Check out the new boardwalk and parking lot at once-obscure Bottle Beach State Park, which is on Highway 105 east of Westport. State Parks recently improved this great little birding and beachcombing park on the shores of Grays Harbor. For more information, visit www.parks.wa.gov.
