Art Redford and Frank Pupo of Gig Harbor are donating a 1937 Kenworth Touring Motor Coach to Mount Rainier National Park on Monday. The bus was used to shuttle visitors from Tacoma and Seattle to the park from 1937 to 1962. Redford bought the bus in 1985 and he and Lupo will drive it to Monday’s ceremony at Longmire. The informal ceremony will be at 2 p.m. at the Longmire gas station (which no longer sells gas).
The owners have allowed the park to use the bus on several occasions in the past including for its 1999 celebration of its 100th anniversary. According to a statement released by the park, the red coach will be on display at various times throughout the summer.
