Three things to do this weekend

All weekend: This is a great weekend to check out the revamped Bottle Beach State Park on Highway 105, a few miles east of Westport. The park now has a parking lot, toilet, three birding blinds and nice trails. Westport is just a few miles down the road, and a walk along the beach at Westhaven State Park is a good addition to the day. Camping is available at Twin Harbors State Park. All weekend: Get outside and savor the summer weather! Even if it’s just taking a balmy evening walk around the block – or splashing around in the Heritage Park Fountain – it’s time to wallow in warmth.

All weekend: Now is the time for cyclists to register for the 170-mile, two-day Ride Around Puget Sound that will send swarms of pedalers on a loop that starts and ends at Tacoma Community College. The ride is Aug. 22-23, and riders have the option of spending the night of Aug. 22 inside or outside of Shelton High School.
