Three things to do this weekend

All weekend: Spot big chinook salmon swimming below the Fifth Avenue Bridge in downtown Olympia. These fish are headed for Capitol Lake and the Deschutes River. Stream Team volunteers will be at the bridge to answer questions.

All weekend: Pink salmon fishing remains good at beaches north of Commencement Bay – such as Dash Point – and in the Puyallup River.

All weekend: The Western Washington archery hunting season has started for black-tail deer and will continue through most of the month. If you’re walking in the woods, wear hunter-orange vests and try to stay away from areas popular with hunters.
