Three 'outdoors' things to do this weekend

All weekend: The Upper Columbia, the Methow, the Wenatchee, the Icicle and the Okanogan rivers are open for steelhead angling. Anglers will have a daily limit of four hatchery steelhead at least 20 inches long. For more information, visit www.wdfw.wa.gov.

All weekend: Recreational salmon anglers fishing in marine areas 11 and 13 – Vashon Island to South Puget Sound – are now allowed to retain wild chinook as part of their two-fish daily limit. The change took effect on Thursday. However, all wild coho caught south of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge must be released.

All weekend: Take some time to sign up for a great mushroom-hunting class through the Mount St. Helens Institute. The class, which meets on Oct. 10, will include identifying and gathering edible wild mushrooms in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. For more information, call 360-891-5069.
