Damaged roads open in Gifford Pinchot

Construction is complete on many roads in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, repairing roads that were damaged by storms in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Funding for repairs came through the Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads program and Forest Service appropriations.

Here is a rundown of the roads that have been repaired and are now open.

Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument

26 – Quartz Creek/Ryan Lake

4205 – spur off of the East Fork

54 – Bare Mountain

99 – Windy Ridge

Cowlitz Valley Ranger District

21 – Johnson Creek

2130 – Deception Creek

25 – Randle

26 – Quartz Creek/Ryan Lake

46 – Lava Creek

47 – Willame Creek. The road is closed at an impassable slide on the Randle end and closed at a bridge near Skate Creek Road. Call Cowlitz Valley Ranger District at 360-497-1100 for additional information.

55 – Lone Tree

63 – Davis Creek/Purcell Mountain.

84 – Berry Creek

There are other roads being repaired and are scheduled to be completed this fall. Roads 21 (milepost 4.0), 2324, 26 (milepost 4.0), 76, 83 and 93 are open during repair.

However, Roads 2304, 7409 and 81 remain closed during restoration.
