Mount Baker was honored for having the shortest lift lines in Skiing Magazine's Resort Awards 2010.
Here is what the ski mag had to say: “Mount Baker has no hotels, no high-speed quads, and no lift lines. So go for the world-record snowfall and killer terrain. Drop the steep rollovers and trees off Chair 5 or grab your beacon, shovel, probe, and partner and head out the gate to Shuksan Arm.”
• Adults can get a sense of the Top of the Hill workshop at White Pass on Jan. 3. The area is holding a free “test drive” of the program, slated to begin Jan. 16. The program is for skiers over 18 years old and serves novices to experts. Register for the Jan. 3 event in the Sitzmark Lounge at 9:30 a.m. and the event runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The avalanche danger was moderate to low mid week, according to the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center. Conditions should remain stable as the weekend weather forecast calls for high clouds and cool temperatures across the Cascades.
