What: The Trailside Hiking Group is taking a snowshoe trek in the Snoqualmie Pass area. This will be an easy to moderate snowshoe trek that will cover 3 to 4 miles round-trip. This is the first in a series of snowshoe hikes the group will be organizing.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Where: Gold Creek Basin near Snoqualmie Pass
Getting there: Meet at Stadium Tully’s, 24 Tacoma Ave. N., Tacoma, to form carpools.
History: The group was created in 2003 to reconnect with nature and people who share similar interests and affections, said coordinator Mike Trygstad. The group does hikes, backpack trips, retreats and walks for all skill levels, as well as social events.
Cost: Free, but a Northwest Forest Pass is required for parking at a forest trailhead.
Also: The group will leave the coffee shop at 8:15 a.m. Be sure to bring water, a lunch, snowshoes, poles, appropriate/warm clothing in layers, sturdy shoes, hat, gloves, sunglasses.
