What: The theatre program at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom will present the play "K2" as its winter show. Written by Patrick Myers, the play looks at the relationship between two longtime friends and climbing partners who have had an accident while decending K2, the world's second highest mountain.
When: 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday
Where: Black Box Theatre in the Cascade Building on the Fort Steilacoom campus, 9401 Farwest Drive S.W., Lakewood
Getting there: From Tacoma, take Orchard Street south to Steilacoom Boulveard West. Turn right and go to Farwest Drive Southwest. Turn left and then turn left into campus. From Olympia, take the Bridgeport Way exit from Interstate 5. Follow it to Steilacoom Boulevard West and turn left. Follow the previous directions from there.

Of note: Preparing for the play, the two actors have been working with the Tacoma Mountaineers to learn basic mountaineering skills. Also, one of the actors will be wearing the gear that local climber the late Stan Engle wore to climb Mount McKinley.
Cost: $5 for general admission, $2 for students, senior and military.
Also: Free matinees will take place at 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
