New year brings 3-day razor-clam dig at coast

Clam diggers can ring in 2011 with a three-day razorclam dig on Washington's coastal beaches over the New Year's holiday.

Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis, Mocrocks and Kalaloch will be open for clam digging from noon to midnight Friday and Jan. 1. Twin Harbors also will be open from noon to midnight Jan. 2.

Fish and Wildlife Department shellfish manager Dan Ayers told The Daily News of Longview that more than 22,000 razor-clam diggers have flocked to Washington beaches during previous New Year’s Eve openers.
