Weekend Getaway for April 23


WHAT: Olympic National Forest has three cabins available to rent. The cabins make ideal base camps for various adventures on the Olympic Peninsula.

WHERE: The Hamma Hamma and Interrorem cabins are near Hoodsport, and the Louella Cabin is near Sequim.

HISTORY: During the Great Depression, the Hamma Hamma Cabin was constructed as an administration building for Forest Service fire and trail crews. Interrorem Cabin was built in 1907 as the forest's first administration building. The Louella Cabin was built as a guard station in 1912.

SLEEPING CAPACITY: The Hamma Hamma and Louella cabins have room for six people, and the Interrorem Cabin sleeps four.

ACTIVITIES: There are a variety of activities in Olympic National Forest and nearby Olympic National Park. Hiking trails in the area have been mostly free of snow most of the spring and winter. All three cabins are available to rent year-round.

COST: The cabins range in price from $50-$60 per night.
