Tall ship visit

WHAT: The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftan will tie up in Ilwaco. Ticketed visitors will be welcome to go aboard to learn the workings of a tall ship, sing sea shanties and hear maritime tales.

WHEN: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 30-31.

WHERE: The Port of Ilwaco, 165 Howerton Ave., Ilawco.

LADY WASHINGTON: The ship was launched on March 7, 1989, a replica of ships that sailed in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The Lady Washington was built in Aberdeen by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority. The ship is a full-scale reproduction of the original Lady Washington and has made several movie appearances and most recently was featured in a new music video produced by Seattle-based rapper Macklemore.

HAWAIIAN CHIEFTAN: Built of steel, the ship was launched June 12, 1988. The Seaport Authority purchased the split-topsail ketch in October 2005.

SPECIAL TOURS: The Seaport Authority is offering a special tour of the Lady Washington from 2-4 p.m. May 30-31. Tickets are $39-$47. For more information, go to historicalseaport.org/event/adventure-ilwaco.

UPCOMING VISITS: The Hawaiian Chieftain and Lady Washington also are scheduled for additional visits July 7 and Aug. 28.

ADMISSION: A $3 donation per person is requested for the self-guided walk-on tours.
