Tenino’s boys basketball team saw its season end Thursday night with a 69-49 loss to Toledo in a consolation game of the 1A District IV tournament at W.F. West High School in Chehalis. The Beavers finish the season at 11-13. Junior guard Devante Harris had a game-high 23 points but was the only Tenino player in double figures. Toledo, which secured a regional berth with the win, dominated from start to finish using its size advantage. Jesse Wallace led the Indians with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite a career-high 39 points from Zach Carras, the Pacific 2B League MVP, Northwest Christian fell to Raymond, 62-58, in a District IV consolation game at Rochester. NWC finishes with a 14-10 record. In addition to his 39 points, Carras, a senior, had 12 rebounds. He broke numerous school records this season, including free-throw percentage (86 percent) and 3-point field-goal percentage (48 percent).
COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Visiting Alaska Anchorage, ranked 11th nationally, handed Saint Martin’s its ninth straight loss, 74-42, Thursday night at Marcus Pavilion in Lacey. Hanna Johansson scored a team-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting to pace the Seawolves, who used a 17-3 run to close out the first half for a 35-18 halftime lead. Chelsea Haskey led the Saints (7-18 overall, 2-13 GNAC) with 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting.
COLLEGE MEN”S BASKETBALL
Despite a slim, 38-37 lead at halftime, Alaska Anchorage, relied on 61 percent shooting to pull away from Saint Martin’s in the second half to earn a home 81-59 win. Travis Thompson led the Seawolves with a game-high 21 points. Jeremy Green and Ryan Votaw had 13 points apiece to lead the Saints, who dropped to 8-16 overall and 4-11 in the GNAC.
