When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday

TV: Fox

Radio: Motor Racing Network

Last year’s winner: Kevin Harvick

Also this week: ToyotaCare 250, Nationwide Series, Richmond International Raceway, 7 p.m. Friday, ESPNews.

Worth mentioning: After eight races, three of the top five drivers in the Sprint Cup Series standings are winless – Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson. Those three drivers have won a combined 11 series championships.

Who’s Hot / Who’s Not

HOT

Fox: Will broadcast knockout Cup qualifying at Talladega on the network. It could easily be the most entertaining of the season.

Streamline Hotel: The birthplace of NASCAR in Daytona Beach, Fla,. has a new owner who plans major renovations including to the rooftop bar, where Bill France Sr. conducted the meeting that resulted in the organization’s inception.

Brian France: At the Cynopsis Sports Awards ceremony, he received the Vision Award, which recognizes the executive of the year from a sports league or organization who has demonstrated innovation and transformed an industry.

Ella Sophia Gordon: The daughter of four-time champion Jeff Gordon got her first on-track racing experience last week in a quarter-midget.

Trevor Bayne/Blake Koch/Josh Wise: On their off-weekend, all three competed in the TryCharleston Half-Triathlon.

NOT

Swan Racing: Organization is uncertain whether it will compete at Richmond. Perhaps such due diligence should have gone into the decision whether to field two full-time teams this season.
