Washington senior forward Quincy Pondexter was honored Monday as the Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball player of the week for his contributions to the Huskies' sweep of Stanford and California.
Pondexter averaged 26 points and 7.5 rebounds over the two games. He was a combined 19-for-31 (61 percent) from the field, and was perfect (12 for 12) from the foul line.
This marks the third such honor for Pondexter, all this season. No other Pac-10 player has won the award as often this season. And only three other Huskies have taken the award as often in a career: Jon Brockman, five; Brandon Roy, four; and Christian Welp, three.
Other nominees this week were Derrick Williams of Arizona, Rihards Kuksiks of Arizona State; Dwight Lewis of USC, and Klay Thompson of Washington State.
