Under the first-year guidance of Kelly, the Hawks were ranked No. 1 all season in the statewide polls and won the 2A Evergreen Conference title, the District IV title, and a spot in the state tournament for the seventh consecutive year.
F/G Marnie Brown, sr., Olympia
The Bears’ versatile senior can shoot well from outside or post up in the key. For the second straight season, the first-team all-Narrows League pick led the team in scoring (12.1), rebounding (9.2) and steals (3.2) per game, helping Olympia reach the 4A district tournament. She scored in double figures in 18 of Olympia’s 25 games.
G Katie Colard, sr., Elma
The Western Washington signee had a hot hand behind the 3-point arc, and she led Elma to its third straight state tournament appearance and a top-five state ranking all season. She increased her scoring average from a season ago and led the team with 20.2 points and five assists per game.
P Chelsea Haskey, sr., Black Hills
A consistent 20 points-plus scorer and double-double machine, a lot of the Wolves’ offense runs through Haskey. She averaged an Evergreen Conference-best 21.8 points per game and also pulled down 12.8 rebounds per game. She set school records for both most points (35) and rebounds (30) in a game earlier this season.
G Samira McDonald, so., River Ridge
McDonald’s speed and quickness helped dictate the pace of the Hawks’ on-court play. A first-team all-EvCo player for the second season, she led a balanced-scoring team at 13.2 points per game, McDonald proved to be the floor general both offensively and defensively on a league-champion team that was ranked No. 1 in the state all season.
P Brandi Thomas, sr., Elma
The Eagles’ lengthy and versatile post was a consistent double-figure scorer and rebounder for the EvCo’s second-place team and a big presence in the paint with her shot-blocking abilities. Thomas, who will play at Washington State, averaged 18.8 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks per game.
