Former Timberline High standout and Eastern Washington linebacker Ronnie Hamlin was named to The Sports Network's preseason FCS All-America team as a second-team honoree, announced Sunday.

Hamlin, a 2009 Timberline graduate, was granted a sixth year of eligibility in March after his '09 and '10 seasons were wipped out because of knee injuries. Hamlin already is the third-leading tackler in program history.

Since 2010, Hamlin has racked up 361 tackles in 40 games. In 2013, he registered 140 tackles, fourth-best in program history for a single-season.

It isn’t often when all eyes are on a non-championship match at Mat Classic, the state wrestling championships.

But when Curtis’ Aizayah Yacapin took the mat against perennial state placer Austin Michalski, of Tahoma, in a much-anticipated Class 4A semifinal at 126 pounds, it was one of those moments to watch Saturday in the Tacoma Dome.
