First inning hurts Black Hills in 7-4 loss to Anacortes at 2A regionals

Behind RBI doubles from Mitch Davis and Joe D’Amelio, Anacortes scored all of its runs in the first inning on its way to a 7-4 victory over Black Hills on Saturday afternoon in the Class 2A baseball regional at Bellingham’s Joe Martin Stadium.

Davis and D’Amelio had two- and three-RBI doubles as part of a seven-run first inning for the Seahawks (18-5), who sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning off Wolves starter Nathan Hudson.

Hudson lasted 2/3 of an inning, allowing four earned runs on three hits. Reliever Joe Anderson pitched 51/3 innings of long relief and allowed two hits and struck out one.

Black Hills (12-11), making its first appearance at regionals in school history, cut the deficit to 7-3 on Ryan Jones’ two-RBI double. An inning later, Hudson’s RBI single made it 7-4.
