Robber gets 13 years for '07 home invasion

A Chicago man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing former NBA star Antoine Walker at gunpoint at his home in 2007.

Demorris Hill was tried late last year for the robbery, but the jury wasn’t able to reach a unanimous verdict.

Prosecutors had said they planned to retry him before he pleaded guilty to one count of home invasion.

Two other men also have been convicted in the robbery, and a third is awaiting trial.

Hill is also charged in a similar robbery at the suburban Chicago home of New York Knicks center Eddy Curry.

Walker, a Chicago native, played 14 seasons in the NBA.

HINRICH TO GET MRI

Washington Wizards guard Kirk Hinrich sat out Saturday night’s game against Boston and will have an MRI on his sprained right elbow.

Hinrich hyperextended the elbow in the fourth quarter of Friday’s loss to Phoenix.

The team will wait a day or two for the swelling to go down before Hinrich has the MRI, making it unlikely the veteran will play in Monday’s game at New York.

FASTBREAKS

Shaquille O’Neal didn’t travel with Boston for Saturday night’s game at Washington after leaving Friday night’s home win over Utah with a sore right hip. Hawks coach Larry Drew has suspended reserve forward Josh Powell for one game.
