Reeling from the early Indianapolis onslaught, Saints strike back with Garrett Hartley field goals of 46 and 44 yards, the last slicing the Colts’ lead to 10-6 at halftime. Saints stun Colts with onside kick, then take first lead on Pierre Thomas’ 16-yard catch-and-run. Colts answer, and Hartley’s third field goal makes it 17-16 after three. Brees goes 7-of-7 on 59-yard drive as Saints take 24-17 lead with 5:42 left. With Colts marching for tying score, Tracy Porter’s interception and 74-yard return all but ends it. Colts get off to a promising start, scoring first on Matt Stover’s 38-yard field goal and then following up with a Super Bowl record-tying 96-yard drive to take a 10-0 lead.
