A brush fire scorched about 6 acres in the Yelm area Saturday, according to Lacey Fire District 3, one of several fire districts that responded to the blaze.

Lacey district firefighters were dispatched about 5:45 p.m. Saturday to the 15000 block of 109th Avenue Southeast.

The fire threatened to burn a small outbuilding and was running uphill toward some houses, but was extinguished before it caused any structural damage, Battalion Chief Steve Crimmins said Sunday.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
