I-5 overpass at 93rd damaged by overheight load
The 93rd Avenue Southwest freeway overpass will have limited lane access while state Department of Transportation crews assess damage from an incident Sunday morning.
An overheight load in northbound Interstate 5 hit the overpass about 2:25 a.m. Sunday, according to Claudia Bingham Baker, WSDOT’s Olympic Region communications manager.
Crews have removed loose concrete and damaged rebar. They also restriped the overpass to move traffic to the north side to lessen stress on the damaged area until repairs can be made.
During the day Sunday, the 93rd Avenue overpass was closed or limited to one lane. As of Monday morning, it was open to one lane of traffic in each direction.
