Five Lacey businesses fail alcohol compliance check

The Lacey Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks March 12, and five businesses failed because they sold alcohol to a minor.

The following businesses did not pass:

▪ Shell gasoline station at 8300 Martin Way E.

▪ Safeway at 1234 Marvin Road NE.

▪ Passage to India at 810 Sleater Kinney Road SE.

▪ Mayan restaurant at 4810 Yelm Highway SE.

▪ QFC at 4775 Whitman Lane SE.

The 49 businesses were divided between 32 grocery, convenience and liquor stores, and 17 bars and taverns.

Each business employee who made an illegal sale will be issued a criminal citation, and all of the businesses will be referred to the state Liquor and Cannabis Board, according to a news release.

The compliance checks were done in cooperation with the state Liquor and Cannabis Board, the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, with funding provided by the prosecutor’s office’s Target Zero program.

For information about the compliance checks, call Sgt. Matt Koehler at 360-459-4333.
