1 person dies Monday in crash on Rainier Road

A driver died early Monday when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree on Rainier Road, according to Thurston County dispatchers.

Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies and rescue crews were dispatched to Rainier Road and Fir Tree Road in Olympia at 3:51 a.m.

No other vehicles were involved and there was only one person in the vehicle, which was a mail truck, said Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Rudloff.

The cause is under investigation, Rudloff said.
