Police search for man suspected of slapping woman’s buttocks on the Olympia Woodland Trail

Olympia police are searching for a man who allegedly slapped a woman’s buttocks Wednesday morning as she jogged along the Olympia Woodland Trail.

Police responded at 9:20 a.m. after a woman reported that the suspect had ridden past her on a bicycle and slapped her buttocks, Lt. Paul Lower said. She described the suspect as a white man with long, dark hair. He was wearing a red shirt, shorts and a black backpack.

Lower said officers searched the trail for about an hour, but couldn’t find the suspect. No similar incidents have been reported in recent weeks.

“We’ll be keeping an eye on the trail,” Lower said.

The suspect could be arrested for fourth-degree assault. Anyone with information should contact the Olympia Police Department at 360-753-8300.
