Olympia woman charged in heroin case killed while crossing Tacoma street
An Olympia woman arrested last May for possessing a large amount of heroin was killed Sept. 9 while crossing a street in Tacoma.
Wendy M. Michael, 39, was hit by a vehicle while crossing Pacific Avenue. Michael was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident, according to a report in The News Tribune, and the driver was not cited or arrested.
Michael was arrested May 11 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of a building for drug purposes. Olympia police reported finding more than 80 syringes loaded with heroin as well as another ounce of the drug at Michael’s home, which she shared with co-defendant Ronald Quismundo.
Michael had been free on bail. Thurston County Superior Court dismissed the charges Sept. 14 in response to Michael’s death.
Quismundo, 38, was sentenced in August to 60 months in prison.
