55,000 pounds of chicken recalled due to contamination

Select varieties of Gold’n Plump and Just Bare chicken products have been recalled due to possible “foreign matter contamination.”

GNP Company recalled 55,000 pounds of chicken after it discovered black soil and sand in some of its products. The source of contamination is unknown but is being investigated.

The items from the Minnesota-based company were distributed for food service and retail sale across the country.

No illnesses have been reported in conjunction with the contaminated products, but consumers should dispose of or return the chicken to the store of purchase. The exact varieties of recalled products can be found here.
