Walla Walla man arrested after allegedly assaulting 3-month-old child

A 27-year-old Walla Walla man was arrested under investigation of assaulting a 3-month-old child, Wednesday, April 15, according to a Walla Walla Police Department news release.

Police were called to an emergency room of a hospital because medical staff reported injuries to the child, according to the release.

The release states that detectives interviewed the man and arrested him based on the interview and medical findings.

The man was arrested under investigation of five counts of first-degree child assault. He is being held at Walla Walla County Jail.

Formal charges have not yet been filed by the Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The Union-Bulletin does not normally name a suspect before charges have been filed.

The WWPD has not released any details of the alleged assault, but spokesperson Sgt. Logan Morris said the child is still under medical care.
