New women's service club opens in Cowlitz, Lewis counties

A new chapter of the General Federation of Women's Clubs has opened in Cowlitz and Lewis counties and is helping locals who suffer from food insecurity, domestic violence and more.

So far, the service club has donated holiday meal boxes to the Longview Highlands Neighborhood Association and helped with the Toledo School District's "Fill the Backpacks" program, according to a notice from the club.

The club also supports survivors of domestic violence, honors veterans and creates handmade items for local hospice patients.

The group meets on the first Saturday of each month in Longview and welcomes new members.
