Ted Gruber will give a presentation on his book "Postal History of Cowlitz County, Washington," as well as about the history of Oregon post offices connected to the county from 1-3 p.m. May 16 at the museum at 700 W. A St., Rainier.

The book highlights the 45 post offices that have operated in the county, and features 80 historic photos, a county postmark catalog, and more. Gruber will also sign copies of his book at the event.

The presentation will also touch on Rainier, including the mail-routing changes that followed the bridge opening in 1930, and the Tacoma railroad ferry, which first operated between Kalama and Hunters and later between Goble and Kalama.

Additional history on the Hunters and Goble post offices will be included.

The Rainier Oregon Historical Museum will also share a brief history of post offices, too.
