Port of Skagit gears up for summer events
The Port of Skagit is involved with hosting and sponsoring several new and time-honored events this summer.
The events include:
• The 4th of July Hometown Celebration in La Conner will have food trucks, a beer garden and live music on the lawn at La Conner Marina. Musical acts included openers Steve Johnson and Bluesfish, and headliner Mama Dirty Skirt. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and end with a fireworks show sponsored by the Town of La Conner at dusk.
• On July 25, the Skagit County Historical Museum is hosting Northern State Hospital Public History Day at the Port of Skagit's SWIFT Center. The event begins at 9:30 a.m., and includes speakers, walking tours, information booths and an inside peek at the historic Hub Building, which was built in 1916 and used as an assembly hall, gathering space and chapel for the hospital.
• The first of three Music in the Park @ SWIFT summer outdoor concerts will be offered on the historic property on July 25. It will feature local country band Nonstop to Nashville, food trucks, a beer garden and face painting for the kids and an amazing setting to enjoy the music. Two more Music in the Park @ SWIFT events will be held Aug. 22 featuring North Sound Soul and Sept. 12 featuring the Skagit Symphony. For more information, visit portofskagit.com/music
• The Tidewater Boil on Sept. 24 and Skagit Farm to Pint FEST on Sept. 26 will be at La Conner Marina. Both events are organized and hosted by Genuine Skagit Valley. Both sell out each year. Tickets are available at genuineskagitvalley.com.
One of the Port of Skagit's most successful events last year, the 2025 Skagit Skies Airshow, will return in 2027.
Building upon the success of the 2025 event, which had 10,000 visitors and amazing aerobatic performances, planning is already underway for the 2027 event.
