Crews will conduct maintenance on water mains and add new valves to the water system between the 1200 and 1500 blocks of 19th and 20th Avenues starting at 8 a.m. Friday, June 26, between the intersections of Maple and Hemlock streets. According to a release from Longview's Utility Department, the new valves are designed to mitigate shutdowns in the future.
Crews will conduct pre-digging work on Wednesday and Thursday, but water will remain on until Friday. The shutoff is scheduled for a construction day running from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. Friday.
Ahead of the shutdown, city officials recommend that residents in the area switch off their water heaters at the circuit breaker level, switch off any sprinkler timers, limit their toilet usage or keep extra water on-hand for flushing.
